Can you believe I had never visited Bath before this visit! It’s shocking I know! Its one of those places I never got round to! However… I must tell you that if you haven’t been YOU MUST!
I think it’s up there as one of my favourites in the UK. It is so unique and beautiful.

I had originally planned a weekend in Bath, but as any parent knows this can change at any moment with kids in tow. It’s always difficult to know which hotels are suitable for a family of 4. However, No 15 Great Pulteney was the perfect choice.

To get packing was super easy with my lightweight IT cabin suitcase, the size is perfect for a weekend away. It has lots of handy compartments. A perfect size for my laptop and clothes. The expanding zip was also particularly handy, as a girl can never have too many shoes. It fit perfectly in the car and was easlily stackable.

I normally rule out a luxury hotel, as I always think that the children may not be welcome.  How wrong I was when we arrived at No15 Great Pulteney.
From the moment we arrived the staff were helpful, friendly and accommodating.

Many hotels in Central Bath, do not have parking, however, we parked directly outside the hotel and the staff dealt with this immediately and efficiently. These little things help so much when the children have been on a long car journey and they are dealt with quickly, so you go ahead to your room and relax.

We were shown to our room, the Henrietta Junior Suite,  and left to take in the most beautiful decor – designed by Martin Hulbert, with personal touches that made the room most inviting. A lovely mint green Roberts Radio, a Dyson Hairdryer, the cutest dolls house accommodating tea and coffee requirements. On every floor was a gorgeous larder with a Smeg fridge filled with fresh milk for tea, ice cream on demand popcorn, brownies and treats …. my children were in heaven and said they had never been to such an amazing hotel.

We had arrived a little late because of London traffic, so I swiftly had to dash to the treatment I had booked in the spa area. I chose the Ila balancing back treatment, being a photographer I am constantly straining my back so I felt this would be perfect to wind down and relax all those tight knots. It was PERFECT. The room was stunning with a coral ceiling, that was made of all sorts of interesting materials, and Sarah my masseur gave me the massage of my life. She finished off with poultice stones that balance your chakras. I highly recommend this treatment – it was the perfect way to unwind after a long drive. The Spa 15 is stunning, and would also be perfect for a girls weekend away.

I then had a little time to explore the hotel before we went to dinner. What can I say, I’ve never seen a more interesting hotel in my life, there are quirky and instragrammable pieces everywhere you look. From the gorgeous foyer with elaborate paintings and chandeliers to the staircases lined with vintage cameras. No 15,  is certainly a feast for your eyes.

We then went for a little wander in the early evening and had some dinner at the lovely Soto Soto, a local Italian restaurant . The food was delicious, and the service outstanding.

My daughter by this time was not feeling very well at all,  so when we got home from dinner the lovely staff called us a cab to take her to the local A & E, she had a terrible fever. Luckily it all worked out and we got home at midnight, to what I can only describe as a marshmallow bed. The room was so so comfortable and spacious.

We awoke to a delicious breakfast, prepared in the dining area which was again filled with the most interesting artefacts. Peculiar and wonderful containers, colourful pieces of art. Your eyes can’t help but dart from one thing to another.
Breakfast was a range of cereals, meats and cheeses, with also a cooked menu. There was something for everyone, including the kids who went a little crazy for the pancakes.

My daughter had perked up a little by the morning and said she would try and attempt a visit to the Roman Baths which of course is must see when you visit.

The Roman Baths transports you through time immediately, so well preserved and well thought out, a story unfolds as you walk through days gone by. Even though my daughter wasn’t feeling very well at all, she loved it. The children enjoyed using the vocal guides and listening to all the facts, which were specifically for children. The Roman baths are an absolute must see when visiting. There are no words to describe how stunning it is.

By the end of our visit to the baths, we decided that my daughter wasn’t well enough to stay another night, so we had some lunch at the beautiful Pump Rooms, and decided that we should go home.

So we packed our luggage and decided that we’d visit Bath again some time soon. 

Bath is a very special place, Its so unique and cant be compared to anywhere else in the U.K.  – we absolutely loved it as a family, and can’t wait to return.

When we have the chance to visit Bath again, we would certainly choose No 15 again. The hotel stay was absolutely perfect.
